Pattern Information

Crochet terminology: Available in both US and UK terminology.

This is a written pattern that includes step-by-step photographs and crochet graphs to guide you through the design.

The pattern is worked using basic crochet stitches combined with several special stitches. At its heart is my own original stitch combination, created exclusively for Auburncraft Crochet Design, which forms the signature dragonfly motif featured throughout the shawl.

The shawl has a straightforward pattern repeat, making it enjoyable to settle into. The main border is a little more challenging, but detailed photographs and crochet graphs are included to help you every step of the way.

A wide variety of yarns can be used to create this design. My sample was crocheted using one cake of Scheepjes Whirl in Salted Caramel Matcha, and I had approximately 70 metres (77 yards) remaining.

Please note that two of my pattern testers required slightly more than one Whirl to complete the border. They finished their shawls using either a Scheepjes Whirlette or leftover Whirl from another project. If you achieve the recommended gauge and maintain an even tension throughout, completing the shawl with a single Whirl is certainly achievable.

My testers also experimented with a variety of different yarns and colourways, each producing a beautifully unique interpretation of the design. You can view some of their stunning creations below.

• 1 × Scheepjes Whirl – Salted Caramel Matcha

• 1000–1200 metres (1094–1312 yards)

• Scissors

• Tapestry needle
