  • Sk- Skip

  • Fpdc- Front Post Double Crochet

Notes:

  • The last stitch of each rows is placed into the top of the starting chains or stitch from the previous row.

  • Starting chains can be replaced by a standing double crochet to create a neater edge

How to Front Post Double Crochet

  1. Yarn over and insert your hook from the front to the back between the posts of the first and second double crochet of the row below, and then from the back to the front again between the posts of the second and third stitches. This will position the hook horizontally behind the double crochet that you’re working around.

  2. Yarn over and pull the yarn around the post of the stitch.  You now have 3 loops on the hook.

  3. Yarn over and pull the yarn through 2 loops on the hook twice.

    Pattern:

    Ch18

Row1: Dc into the 3rd Ch  from Hk. Dc into each St across. Turn [17 Dc]

Row 2: Ch3 (Counts as a St). *Fpdc into next stitch, Dc into next St.* Rep from * to * across the row. Turn, (17Stitches)

Row 3: Ch3 (Counts as a St). Dc into each stitch across. Turn. (17 dc)

Repeat Rows 2 and 3, to desired length ending on a Row 2.

Fasten off. Leave a long tail to join.

The pattern will pop to the back so when you join, do so with the wrong sides facing outwards.

Join the ends together using your favourite method.

    Examples:

    Sewn with a needle

    Single crochet

Flat Seam join. I used this method.
