Bloom and Bramble Square

September 5, 2024

A few weeks ago, reminders of Granny Square Day were being shown everywhere I looked. It was literally the next day! I had been busy in my own little crochet bubble working away, but after seeing these reminders I thought to myself that I really should do a square.

I rummaged through my yarn stash and found some Stylecraft Special DK. A couple of hours later, I had produced "Bloom and Bramble." I had not bothered to write this as I went; it was nice just to crochet on auto-pilot without any thought as to what I was doing next. I was so pleased with the finished square that I decided it deserved to be written down.

However, with layered stitches behind, over, and sometimes around other stitches, creating the pattern was slow going. By the time I got to the end of writing, I had produced an 11-page pattern and was questioning why I had given in to the impulse of simply making a square.

I will let you judge if it was worth writing down.
