Pattern testers form an integral part of crochet design. Without them (and I know this from years of experience), you have a pattern that may work. But in all reality (and if you are me), then you may have lost the plot somewhere along the way and there could be a glaring error within.
Every effort, of course, is taken to write the pattern clearly, but sometimes that mistake that is so obvious that you simply cannot see it slips by.
I rely on my pattern testers to ensure what is published WILL WORK!
I have testers who hail from all over the world, and many of them have been testing for me for years.
Today I have two reasons for highlighting their amazing efforts.
Firstly, to simply acknowledge and give them the accolades they deserve, and secondly, to highlight the stringent testing all Auburncraft Crochet Design patterns endure.
Here at Auburncraft, we joke about how all the testers are locked in the pattern test basement and fed on a bowl of carefully crafted porridge (made by CEO Stella) each day.
We may joke, but the reality is much like the lyrics from the Eagles' Hotel California. You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.
Fabulous pattern testers are a highly coveted commodity, and the visuals of Gollum in Lord of the Rings reciting “Mine, mine” do actually ring true.
