Filet crochet combined with Floral Flare
I really do love me a bit of filet crochet. Combine that with some beautiful Bendigo Woollen Mills 4ply Luxury, and the magic begins.
This design first came to life as a hexagon-shaped blanket — Magnolia Bloom. I then decided to rework the same design into a square format, which became Marigold Bloom. I graphed and crocheted them side by side, working a little on one, then the other. It was rather soothing switching between the two.
While the concept remains the same across both versions, extra adjustments were needed for the square. To form clean sides and sharper corners, I had to expand the pattern slightly. The edging on both blankets appears similar at first glance, but Marigold Bloom is a little more involved due to the additional stitches and shaping required.
I have designated these patterns as intermediate level.
Whether you prefer the elegant sweep of a hexagon or the classic symmetry of a square, both versions are now available — individually or as a bundle — on Etsy and Ravelry.
So, what tickles your fancy? Magnolia Bloom or Marigold Bloom… or perhaps both?
