Wandering Down the Garden Path
If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know that I love flowers—and I also love things that are just a little bit different. I like to create designs that are unique. The Garden Path scarf brings both of those things together. This design is meant to bring out the whimsy in all of us.
With this piece, I wanted to create something that felt like a walk through a garden in full bloom—and I think I’ve achieved that with this design. It’s made to wrap around the neck twice and fasten with a simple button—handmade from yarn, of course! The flower stems are created as you work the main section of the scarf, and later, the long-stemmed flower heads are sewn in place. And to really make it pop, a row of tiny blooms blossoms along one edge. I also couldn’t resist adding leaves wrapped around the post stitches that form the stems—these bring lovely texture and a whimsical finish.
The pattern itself is quite straightforward. The main body is worked in simple stitches, making it a relaxing and enjoyable project. It’s the finishing touches—the flowers, the leaves, the colour choices—that really make it come to life. Like many of my designs, this one leans into my love of creating something that feels unique and full of personality.
