Two Tournament Designs Are Now Available!
Late last year, I was given the privilege of designing two original patterns for the 2026 Crochet Australia Tournament.
At the time, these patterns were released exclusively as part of the tournament experience. Now that the tournament has reached its conclusion, they are ready to be shared with everyone!
Both designs started with a story, an idea, and a little bit of "What if I do this? Mmmm..."—along with a ton of trial and error. I feel I have created two patterns that are challenging while still managing to be enjoyable and rewarding makes.
Fontaine de Fleurs Scarf Wrap
I love flowers, and the yarn I was lucky enough to work with (Alpaca Sox) was so suited to this design, offering beautiful drape and movement.
As the wrap developed, the flowers seemed to cascade across the fabric. My daughter was the one who bestowed the name on this design after exclaiming that the wrap looked like a fountain of flowers.
The floral motifs are the feature of this design, with the pattern including a symbol graph to help bring each flower to life. The main body also includes a block graph, along with written instructions, making it easy to follow as the design develops.
Designed for intermediate crocheters, Fontaine de Fleurs is available in both US and UK crochet terminology.
Isolde's Thorn Scarf
Some designs begin with yarn. Isolde's Thorn began with a story.
Inspired by the legend of Tristan and Isolde, a medieval tale of forbidden love and tragedy, this design explores the beauty and heartbreak woven throughout their story.
The body of the scarf features shaped darts, with the edging creating the distinctive thorn-like points reminiscent of medieval wreaths worn around the neck. As the points appear, they add extra depth and character to the design while tying beautifully back to the legend that inspired it.
Designed for confident beginner crocheters, Isolde's Thorn is written in both US and UK crochet terminology, with pictures and graphs to guide you through the pattern.
Now Available to Everyone
It was a pleasure watching these designs come to life through each tournament participant's version, and I am excited that they can now be made by everyone.
Which will you choose—Fontaine de Fleurs or Isolde's Thorn?
Or perhaps you would like to try your hand at both.
