What to Do When Gifted a Lovely Fiddlesticks Eddy Yarn Cake?
Looking at this sumptuous cake of yarn, it was inevitable that visions of dragonflies popped into my head.
I may wander off and create different patterns, play with tulle, or add floral crochet to something or other… but it never lasts long before I find myself returning to my signature dragonflies.
I wanted this design to be fully reversible, so standard post stitches simply wouldn’t do. Instead, I created my own front post/back post stitch method to keep both sides looking the same. I also didn’t want to overcomplicate this one, so the pattern was worked in a simple repeat.
Once that was sorted, I began thinking about the finishing touches. I could have added something lacey to each end, or perhaps a simple fringe, but honestly… the idea bored me to tears.
The solution was to create a new, unique fringe. Thankfully, I had the foresight to wind off some yarn at the beginning. Because I was using a slow gradient yarn, this allowed me to keep the colour flow working beautifully at both ends, and ensured the fringe edging followed the same progression.
I have to say, I really enjoyed working with this yarn. You can visit my yarn review blog page to read more about Fiddlesticks Eddy and my thoughts on it, or head to the main webpage for the Pistachio Dragonfly Scarf to see materials information and pattern details.
Do you like the unique fringe? Let me know in the comments!
