Checkerboard Symphony combines vibrant colors and linked stitches to create a statement piece you can be proud of.
This design came about as a way to use up leftover yarns from previous projects. I had quite a bit of Stylecraft Batik from designs like the Tirari Desert Flower Ruana and Leadlight Blanket, so I decided to use them to create Checkerboard Symphony.
This is a great project for using up scrap yarns in DK weight.
The pattern features linked stitches to create a dense, gap-free fabric. If you’re unfamiliar with this stitch, I’ve included some helpful tips in the "How To" section on my website.
Since the design involves frequent colour changes, I’ve used the tapestry technique throughout to ensure clean, seamless transitions.
The finished shawl/scarf is quite long and wide, so I recommend checking your gauge before you begin. A difference in stitch height could lead to a longer finished piece.
