A world filled with flowers is a beauty to behold!
I have been making shawls and blankets of late. Occasionally I have added a few bandana cowls to mix it up, but I needed a break from the blanket I have been working on.
On looking around the room where I store my yarns, I viewed the mountain of what I would consider scrap yarns and decided I should make a bag out of scraps.
The bag on completion really needed a flower. This little flower is the result!
This has a raised centre for that 3D look.
US terms are used for this pattern:

I used the same Chunky yarn that was used for the centre of the flower.

I have seen these little bears made from normal type towels and washcloths many times. I had not seen any done in a crochet washcloth, so I thought to myself that it was time.
These little washclothes are simple to make, great for a last minute gift or for adding to gift hampers such as baby shower hampers, house warming gifts etc.
I used one full 50g ball of cotton/bamboo for mine but any soft cotton or cotton blend will work great.
US Terms are used in this pattern.
Materials:
5mm/H Hook
1 x Noya Bamboo Cotton Dk 50g. (I rate this as a thicker Dk.) This yarn may not be readily available everywhere. An alternative would be King Cole Bamboo Cotton (click here to find).
Ribbon in a matching colour.
Rubber Bands in a matching colour.
Materials used.
Notes:
Chains count as a stitch. A Chain 1 is used at the beginning of the row instead of Chain 2. This creates a tighter and neater edge. This method suits my style of crochet and tension. This may not be the case for everyone. I offer two options as alternatives here and work what suits your style of crochet best. Alternative Option 1: Ch2 at the beginning of each row instead of Chain 1. Alternative Option 2: Ch1 at the beginning of each row and do not count this as a stitch. Place your first Half Double Crochet into the same place as the Ch1.
This washcloth is designed to be lightweight and not tightly stitched. Check your gauge to make sure you have the right hook size for your yarn choice.
If your tension is similar to mine your washcloth should be square. If not adjust the number of rows to make a square.

Steps 4,5 and 6.
Step 4: Fold the top section towards the back. You need the fold to be placed so that you the back section of the fold is longer by approx 2 inches.
Step 5:Picture shows what the back of the bear will look like after the fold.
Step 6: Get a matching colour rubber band and place this part way down the front section of the fold to form a head.
Steps 7,8 and 9.

Yes, of course you can always give someone a Choccie Egg, but we all know that you get more chocolate in a box of chocolates!
Maybe you like to keep your chocolate to yourself! This cover is also great for hiding your box of chocolates in. 'Nope no chocolates inside that', if anyone asks!

Firstly, you may be wondering why I named this ‘The Paper Bag Hat’. I did so due to the way I have chosen to close the top of the hat. It reminded me of the old-fashioned brown paper bags from my days working in a local Supermarket.
I started as a Checkout Chick in my teens and the registers were all push button (but not in the digital sense). I would have to ask each customer if they would like a box, or a bag for their purchases. If they wanted a bag I would grab one from the pile of neatly stacked brown paper bags and open it up. The bags had a square bottom, and the sides had a concertina fold. So totally different from the tons of plastic bags that are in supermarket now. Know doubt many people over the years would also love me to put a paper bag over my head so now I can!
Materials: (click on any of the yarn names to source them)
Once you have your chains to start done, you can place themaround the head you are making the hat for and adjust if you think it will notbe the right size. The starting chains must be dividable by 3 sothe pattern will work.
It is a good idea to sew the ends in as you go and to eitheruse a stitch marker or count your stitches so you don’t lose one of them asthey are slippery little suckers and tend to hide.
Ch1 stitch to begin rounds does not count as a stitch.
If you find it too confusing on the rows that you work inthe round, you can just slip stitch each round closed. Doing the rows in the round as stated in thepattern will give a better look visually to the larger sections of sc.
Treble stitches on Round 31 which you place into the frontloops you made on Round 28 count as ast. Don’t make Treble stitches tootight.

Velvet Scrunchies seem to be everywhere at the moment. I thought I would jump on the band wagon and do my own little version. These are something that I tend to wear often. They can be useful to keep my long hair out of the way when working out at the gym.
I don't know about anyone else, but sewing items together is not a huge favourite of mine. These Scrunchies pretty much a no sew item. That is of course if you don't count sewing in the tails created, but two tails I can cope with.
These are super easy! Super fast to make and super fun!!!

Notes:
This is worked in a continuous spiral.
Follow the instructions in Row 1 to prevent twisting of the starting chain.
Numbers in rows indicate corresponding photographs. Example [5]
Do not make the starting chain overly tight. A 6mm/I hook can be used for the starting chains or a foundation row can be substituted, if you find it necessary.
Add a stitch marker at the beginning of the row to easily count your rows.
Count your stitches each row.
Stitch counts appear at the end of each row. Example [20].

Polymer Beads (optional):
Materials Needed
Polymerclay in any colours (available at most craft outlets: I used red for thisproject).
A rollingpin
5mmcrochet hook.
Acrylicgloss varnish.
Paintbrush
Step 1: If using more than one colour ofclay, combine these by working them together. Roll balls approx 10 to 15mm indiameter.
Step 2: Push ahole through the centre of each ball with a 5mm crochet hook end. Push the hookthrough several times from each end of the hole. This ensures the hole is even.
Step 3:Place your beads on an oven tray and bake in a slow oven for approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Allow to cool. Note: It is a good idea to place foil over your beads and tray, prior to baking. This helps keep any smell from the clay contained.
Step 4: Paint with Acrylic Gloss varnishmaking sure to brush out any bubbles. Allow to dry.
Adding Beads and Jewellery cap:
Thread your beads onto the stem end, not attached to the flower. Place a small amount of craft glue inside thejewellery cap and push the stem end onto it. Allow to dry.
Tassel:
1. Wrap yarn 10times around an iPhone or a piece of cardboard approx 3 inches/7.5cm wide.
2. Thread adarning needle with 15cm/5.90inches of yarn and tie the top of the tasseltightly, leaving the tail to tie to your jewellery cap.
3. Remove the yarn from the iPhone/cardboard.
4. Thread adarning needle with approx 20cm/7.87inches of yarn and wrap around the tassel6-8 times tightly. Knot and push the needle down through the wrapping so it canbecome part of the ends.
It is always a fabulous feeling when you get to publish a pattern. Months and sometimes more, can go into the making and testing of a design. It becomes a collaboration with the testers making sure it works for everyone (well hopefully, fingers crossed).
I won't go into the story behind the name as you can view that in another of my blog posts (crochet ramblings section).
Now down to business:
This is a functional fun bag. It features beads on both sides.
The links to the pattern are at the bottom of the page.
It is made from two mandala type pieces worked in the round. The beading is added as you go. If you have never done beading then that is ok. It may look hard but not the way I do it. Pictures are there to help.
The Tote has stiffening in the base and outer edges to help hold the shape.
It is not a lined bag as I have left it more of a market bag style look.
Tension is important with this bag and measurements have been listed with stitch height to ensure success.
There is a wide variety of stitches used: Us terms right/Uk left

My daughter has always loved wide headbands and I have been keeping her in stock with them, for as long as I can remember.I noticed that the knitted one I had done for her back in her teens, was looking rather worn. I rummaged through the stash, found some yarn and set about making this one. This works up quickly and is made from Stylecraft Special Aran and uses a 5mm hook.Beginner friendly! This is a free pattern and available for download on Love Crochet.

A very good friend asked me to make a Cowl for her. I had been playing around with Star Stitch at the time and so felt it was a good idea to use it in this Cowl. I also named this after my friend. Sometimes in life, if you are lucky enough you have a person who is always there for you, no matter what. Deb is that person for me!At the time I did not really think this would be a popular pattern. Just goes to show you can never tell what people will love. This pattern is often downloaded more than 450 times in a month.I often tend to do things a little different and the cowl is one of these things. It is made with 2 strands of Aran weight yarn (double). Any Aran could be used Aran weight yarn used. The one pictured was made from Bendigo Woollen Mills Luxury 10 ply. It is so very soft. This is an Australian Yarn and can be purchased online via their web page. A good alternative to this yarn would be King Cole Merino Blend Aran. The same results could be achieved using a Chunky Yarn with one strand. This is a free pattern and can be found in my Ravelry Store and on Love CrochetThis post may contain affiliate links

Sometimes you just need a simple Triangle.Think of all the possibilities! Cushions, blankets, bunting. Or you may have a flat chested doll that needs a bikini!I whipped up this little Triangle as part of a much larger design I have been working on for AGES! I had a wedding to attend earlier this year and I was very excited at the prospect of attending. I wanted to (hopefully) look nice.I am one of those people, who go and try on a dress and just cannot find anything I like. I also do not want to spend a million dollars on a dress (if I had a million dollars, I would not spend it on a dress anyway). I have to also say that I do have my own style. What I rather like, may not be something others would wear, but that's okay and I will own it!I had some ideas for a dress, swishing around in my head and so I took a trip to my local yarn store. I walked away with a number of balls of Madame Tricot Metallic Gold yarn (full disclosure, I also grabbed a few other squishy lovelies that were calling my name. We all know you can never have enough!).I set to and began making my dress. I wanted a yoke with flowers around it. After trying several different flowers and a lot of frogging, I finally, settled on this design. The pattern for the flower is available for free on my RavelryGetting the yoke just right was a lot of trial and error. In the end I was very pleased with the result.Once the Yoke was done, the rest was smooth sailing. I placed another row of flowers at the waist and then again near the bottom of the dress. The day of the wedding was quite warm and my dress was just right for it.At times, I like to enter some of my crochet into the local shows and decided to enter the dress. I was quite pleased that it won a prize. One day I may write the pattern for the dress up. But at this stage there is only the pattern for the flower.
